The third step is implementing the response, awareness level is responsible for recognizing the presence of a hazmat scene and taking precautions. The final step is evaluating the process, this step is not expected from awareness level personnel. An example of a situation where an incident is beyond the responsibility of an Awareness level personnel would be when there is a leak from an unidentified container like a 55-gal drum. The awareness level does not have the equipment to handle this scene. However, they will follow protocol and request a hazmat team to respond to the scene. The awareness level can relay the information they have to the hazmat team, while also evacuating the area to prevent any further harm.
